Me, my style and my service...

Most freelance photographers will advertise as such.  Photojournalism is typically used to refer to photography work being done for news organizations or publications.  As you have probably noted, I refer to myself consistantly as a photojournalist not a photographer.  I have several reasons for this.

First, my professional photography work started in the traditional photojournalism sense.  I worked as a stringer for the Suburban Journals of St. Louis as well as several local and regional magazines, such as Missouri Life.

More importantly, I refer to myself as a photojournalist because of my photographic style.  I don't pose shots - I obviously don't do a lot of portrait or studio work :) and my objective is to truthfully and artistically capture images of events as they happen.  In the works of Mark Hancock, I "hunt verbs" (See Mark's blog artical, for more information).  I love the challenge of truly trying to tell the story of your event with my images, not just showing you the players and relying on memory or cut-line to complet the story.

As most knowledgable people will tell you, the freelance photojournalist market, is somewhat strained.   This is for the most part a result of the digital era - eMagazines, etc.  At the same time, the digital revolution allows me to provide photojournalism services to everyone at very reasonable rates.   Additionally, I realized that there are many organizations which can benefit from professional quality photojournalistic images.  Nothing allows you to show what you are really about like images of you and your company or team doing what you do.

As a client, our interaction will very closely ressemble that of an editor and a photojournalist for a magazine.  After the assignment is complete, you will receive a copy of all full size images captured during the assignment.   Furthermore, you are entitled to unlimited and unrestricted use of the images captured during the assignment.  You are free to do what you want with them, when you want... print them, share them, modify them.  They are yours.

Hopefully this has helped you understand a little better who I am, what I do and how I do it.  If you are interested in scheduling me for an assignment, please contact me directly.

Regards,
Terry
